Asics Gel Nimbus 17 Review

I am thrilled I found this website, because this is the most informative website on actual brands of shoes that work for supinators! Other websites simply tell you what you need in a shoe, not the brand name. I am a supinator, have high arches, bunions, and occasionally get plantar fasciitis–the perfect storm! Oh, and I love to run! I run now in Asics Gel Nimbus (with a powerstep pinnacle insert) and have previously ran in Saucony Progrid Triumph. I was wondering if there is any other shoe that I can add, since I like to rotate shoes throughout the week. I’m female, 5’5”, 115. Thanks, Meredith.

Our Response

Hello Meredith. Thank you for the nice feedback. Your testimonial gives us added motivation to keep posting more reviews knowing we’re on the right track of helping others find their most suitable footwear. We’re glad to know you love to run and hope you’ll continue doing it. Running has always been linked with longevity, giving the health benefits of healthy heart and lungs, rapid weight loss, strong bones and muscles, healthy mind and powerful brain, improved immune system, and improved complexion and younger looks.

Since running belongs to high impact exercises, you’ll need the right cushioning to protect your stride. Having a running shoe that’s APMA-certified, like Asics Gel Nimbus 17, gives you more confidence to do what you want to do.

With regards to your desire to rotate shoes throughout the week, according to Asics new pronation chart, the running shoes that are equally good and virtually the same support that Asics Gel Nimbus can deliver are Gel Cumulus 16, Gel Kinsei 5, Gel Sendai 2, and Gel Flux 2. These athletic shoes have full support for supination up to neutral pronation. Other great options are the latest edition of Gel Lyte33, Gel Fujiracer, Gel Noosafast, and Gel Hyper Speed.

You can also try the neutral shoes for plantar fasciitis, namely, Asics Gel Contend 2, Asics Gel Kinsei 5, Nike Air Max 2015, Mizuno Wave Creation 16, New Balance M980V1 Fresh Foam, New Balance M890v4, Saucony Cohesion 8, and Saucony Kinvara 5 (if you want a more natural ride). These running shoes are known to relieve heel pain caused by plantar fasciitis. Use a stabilizer insole if support is not adequate.
