Adidas Running Solar BOOST Review

Published March 9, 2019 | by

With Adidas Solar BOOST, you will enjoy the same Ultracushioned Boost midsole, optimized for a responsive ride as the UltraBOOST but at a much lower price. This running shoe is a go-to shoe designed for long distances with breathable upper materials that, according to our runners, give more stability than the softer knit upper of the UltraBOOST.

Adidas Running Solar BOOST has a grippy, lightweight, and flexible STRETCHWEB Continental rubber outsole, which adapts to the ground to boost stability. The Continental traction compound sole of the Solar BOOST uniquely extends to the back portion of the shoe for added stability at heel strike.

Speaking of Continental, this German automotive manufacturing company, with over 140 years of tire technology, supplied Adidas with traction compound soles in 2007. And the Solar BOOST is one of over 80 Adidas shoes with Continental traction compound soles. This Continental technology for runners has rising expectations because of its progressively expanding coverage, a promise of up to 30% more grip experience, and Guinness World Records attempt by professional athletes.

Like tires are for cars and shoes are for people, expect this grippy Continental rubber outsole to perform well in any weather as you run out there and back.

Who should wear Adidas Running Solar BOOST?

This running shoe is only for those who need neutral to underpronation (or supination) support type. But people with a super high arch and those with special orthotics that are thicker than the removable Boost insole might find this shoe tight on the instep.

The Running Solar BOOST has great reviews from actual users saying that it’s very comfortable, has enough arch support, and has a lot of cushions in the heel.

Our experience with Adidas Running Solar BOOST

A newcomer and an experienced runner have tested this running shoe. And after two months of daily running, we are ready to give feedback on what to expect with the Running Solar BOOST.

The new runner who tested this shoe said it gave the right support from start to finish. And she never complained of any pain in the foot, knee, or back after her initial runs. This is solid proof that the technology in this shoe works for even newcomers whose tendency to have muscle pain after running is high.

The experienced runner who tested this shoe for long distances said that the Running Solar BOOST is now one of her favorite running shoes because it gives enough support, grip, and stability. And it doesn’t give you running-related muscle pains even after running on challenging roads and weather. It seems to be durable enough to last longer than a conventional running shoe.

Reasons Not to Buy Adidas Running Solar BOOST

The breathable, braided mesh upper with synthetic overlays of the Running Solar BOOST is not as breathable as the knit upper of the UltraBOOST, the running shoe that many consider the best shoe Adidas has made so far.

Even though the Solar BOOST lacks the breathability features found in the UltraBOOST, many runners feel comfortable using this shoe for long distances. In fact, there are actual accounts of runners saying that the Solar BOOST, with its current upper materials, appears to have more stability than the UltraBOOST. But the Solar BOOST is best for daily running and not for competition.

This running shoe won’t provide a lot of arch support, perfect for the neutral runner. So if you have fallen arches or have issues with overpronation, stay away from the Running Solar BOOST because you need dependable arch support for stability.
